I was wonde...In yeop!

Thank you for reading my post. I was wondering if anyone other than Mr. Larsen would read this.
Thank you for the source information about the movie. I have heard of it and seen many movie clips of it. I think it looks very interesting however I think it will be hard for me to see it in the US.
When I say the "kwangju Massacre" or "Uprising" That is what those who I spoke to from Kwangju called it. Thank you for giving me the official title. I think Many in the US government are not so much ignorant of history as they are willfully ignorant of things that are not western (i.e. england, France, Germany, the US and Canada). A shameful example of this was President Bush's Ignorance of the muslim religious factions (Sunni and Shia) in Iraq before this, so called, second gulf war.

I also think the American people have a misconception of History education as just memorizing dates and people. This is a weakness in the education system and should be (perhaps is) being rectified.

If you couple these two factors together you will have a situation like we, in the US, have today.Justin-B형https://www.blogger.com/profile/09160177722173165843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38578087.post-25558464781264371232008-01-30T07:19:00.000-05:002008-01-30T07:19:00.000-05:00Hey, Justin, it is very nice posting. As you menti...Hey, Justin, it is very nice posting. As you mentioned, the simple reaction of many American people toward Anti-Americanism in the world asking "why do the hate us" mostly came from historical ignorance. That's why history education is important and I think better education and awareness in the U.S. would prevent policy failures such as Vietnam War or Iraqi War.

And I want to add that Korean people use the term "Kwangju democratic uprising" or "Kwangju democratic movement (광주 민주화 운동)" more officially, instead of Kwangju uprising. It was called as the "5•18incident (광주사태)" during the military government and redefined as a "democratic movement" when we have a democratic government.

One last thing, a movie about the Kwangju democratic movement was produced in 2007. It was very well-made move and so popular in Korea. You can watch some movie clip in the following site:
http://www.rememberu518.co.kr/index.aspInyeop Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04243352325686285908noreply@blogger.com
