Awhile ago, I posted on three articles written by a British journalist who attended the Arirang Ceremonies in North Korea. He has also answered some questions written by viewers which have provided an interesting look at the people in North Korea. Mr. Scanlon, the journalist, has been to North Korea multiple times (this year and ten years ago, at least) and has some interesting observations, including that there is basically no rebellious sentiment and that people there think the concept of traveling freely within foreign countries as shocking.
In general, if there's one thing I learned from this class, it is to take North Korea much more seriously, and collect what little information we get from the inside very carefully, as it is probably the best way to form an understanding of the society there, even if no complete understanding of the internal workings will be formed without significant disclosure from within.
I have very much enjoyed this class! Thanks, everyone!
