Former New Mexico governor Bill Richardson who has long-time experience of dealing with North Korea will lead a private bipartisan U.S. delegation to North Korea along with former Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony Principi. The four-day trip, which is scheduled to begin on April 8, is supposed to facilitate the return of the remains of the U.S. soldiers. See this article.
Erin in her post asks of North Korea's perception of the Japanese. I think so far North Korea is still pretty much closed to us, and it is hard to know the North Koreans' view. But with the increase of foreign visits to that land, North Korea will get opened. The international community should and is able, I believe, to play the role to open up North Korea.
